Conscious Contact Meditation Workshop“Prayer and meditation are our principal means of conscious contact.” (Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions)
Saturday, February 29th, 2020- 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
(Lunch to be provided)
It is easy to forget the importance of prayer and meditation in the midst of our busy daily lives. How can we maintain conscious contact on a momentary basis? The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and the Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions give the basic outline that we can follow for a healthy and fulfilling recovery, but it is up to each one of us to practice these suggestions.
This workshop has been created to give the beginning and experienced meditator alike some tools to develop her or his practice, and to carry it into everyday experience. This five-hour practice day will include meditation instruction (tips on posture, breathing, and basic meditation techniques), as well as traditional silent seated and walking meditation, guided meditation, discussion, lunch, and a 12-step meeting.
Meditation cushions and chairs will be provided, but feel free to bring your own meditation cushion if you prefer. To benefit fully, it is suggested that you stay for the full workshop, however, if your schedule does not permit this, you are welcome to attend any part.
“Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understand Him, praying only for His will for us and the power to carry that out.”
